An instrumental performance featuring the two famous instruments, sitar and tabla. Absorb the music as the musicians improvise and weave the threads of raag and taal into the beautiful patterns of traditional hindustani music.
K.G. Westman is a Swedish sitar player who is one of Europe´s foremost in the field of north Indian classical and semi classical music. Due to training in both Indian and western music, he is one of few with a deep understanding of both systems. Each winter K.G. stays in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, India to continue training under the guidance of Pandit Rabindra Narayan Goswami, a most respected sitar master of the holy city. As a senior student of Goswamiji, he is now a frequent performer in Europe, India, as well as other parts of the world. He also teaches sitar and about the classical music of north India.
Hugo Widen has studied drums since 1990. The last 10 years he has devoted himself to the North Indian tabla and the wonderful world of Indian classical music. He is also active as a drummer in other genres, such as punk and reggae. Amanda Welch is studying sitar and residing in New York. Her journey in Indian classical music began in 2008 with lessons from Pt. Rabindra Narayan Goswami. She continued under the guidance of Peter Row of New England Conservatory, before moving on to become a student of Abhik Mukherjee from Kolkata of the Etawah-Imdadkhani Gharana.
